Vegan Turkish Pizza Burger and Lahmacun Toast

What is this? Vegan Turkish Pizza Burgers? We honestly did not know what to call them otherwise.

Turkish pizza (Lahmacun) is traditionally flat and made with minced lamb meat. Seeing we are breaking with tradition by making it without meat, we might as well go for broke.

Anything is possible with VEGGOFIX MEATY Mince and you may find out that fusing cuisines can be super easy and delicious.

Vegan Turkish Pizza Burger and Lahmacun Toast

recipe for 2-4 servings

Ingredients

200 g VEGGOFIX MEATY Mince mix, 250 ml water, 3 tbsp oil

1 can of chopped tomatoes, 1 red bell pepper, 3 cloves of garlic, 1 bunch of fresh parsley, 1 bunch of cilantro (or 1tbsp coriander seed), 2 tsp cumin, salt and pepper

2 burger buns and 4 slices of bread

white cabbage or other green salad

garlic sauce

Preparation

Mix 200 g VEGGOFIX MEATY Mince with 3 tbsp oil and 250 ml water. Take half of the mixture and form 2 burgers out of it. Throw these in your grill pan. Cook them for 5 minutes per side. Add the vegan cheese on top after you flipped the patties, add a bit of water to the pan and put a lid over to steam melt the cheese. We used standard yellow vegan Gouda cheese, but vegan Mozzarella or Cheddar is tasty too in this recipe.

In the meanwhile chop the tomatoes, bell pepper, garlic cloves, parsley and cilantro as fine as possible. You could do this with your trusty kitchen knife or you can just chop everything, adding the cumin, salt and pepper, in a blender. The result is the same, as long  you do not blend the veggies till they are soup.

Now mix the finely chopped veggies with the VeggoFix Meaty Mince that was set aside to make vegetarian Lahmacun mixture. Put it on the burger buns and grill these with the saucy side down in a non-stick pan for 3 to 5 minutes.

Put the left over Lahmacun mixture on slices of bread and roast them on both sides for 3 to 5 minutes. Of course, after your patties and/or buns are done.

You could also use traditional flat bread if you want, of course. Turkish pizza’s cook best in an oven, but it is possible to cook them in a flat non-stick pan on both sides. They are best if you made the dough yourself, but who has time for that nowadays? 🙂

Make a cabbage salad or any type of fresh green salad. Assemble your Turkish Pizza Burgers with the salad and garlic sauce on top of the patties. Lahmacun toast on the side.

We hope you enjoy this clash of culinary worlds!
